Basement project 2026

I started to renovate the basement in our base, clear out old stuff, replace the door, build a new sink. Lots of little math problems like having to fit in a door if the walls are not straight or plumbing and stability puzzles. A sink for example needs a stable frame to be installed on. It would never just hold in the drywall.
We had two doors previously. I bought a new heavier single bare door, cut it to the right size, bought the lumber for the frame and installed it, drill the holes for the lock and install everything so that it fits.
We don't own a car so that all had to be either ordered or biked in. Lots of demolition, sawing, grinding, drilling, routing. This project will still need some time to go, but the main goal (having the sink and door done) are pretty much done.
All the tools and material together add up in cost but it would be way more expensive to have that done externally. Most useful for this project was the table saw, the angle grinder and the router.
